For the first time the Oscars feature 10 best-picture contenders instead of the usual five.
Also nominated for best-picture Tuesday: “District 9”; the animated comedy “Up”; the World War II saga “Inglourious Basterds”; the football drama “The Blind Side”; the recession tale “Up in The Air,” the 1960s drama “A Serious Man,” and the teen tales “An Education” and “Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ By Sapphire.”

Acting nominees include the four stars who have dominated early awards shows: Lead players Sandra Bullock for the football drama “The Blind Side” and Jeff Bridges for the country-music tale “Crazy Heart” and supporting performers Mo’Nique for “Precious” and Christoph Waltz for “Inglourious Basterds.”
The best-picture and director categories shape up as a showdown between ex-spouses who directed films that have dominated earlier Hollywood honors.
Cameron’s “Avatar” won best drama and director at the Golden Globes, while Bigelow’s “The Hurt Locker” beat out Cameron at the Directors Guild of America Awards, whose recipient usually goes on to earn the best-director Oscar.

“The Hurt Locker” also beat “Avatar” for the Producers Guild of America top prize and was chosen as last year’s best film by many key critics groups.
Bigelow, whose films include “Point Break” and “K19: The Widowmaker,” is only the fourth woman nominated for a directing Oscar, following Sofia Coppola for 2003’s “Lost in Translation,” Jane Campion for 1993’s “The Piano” and Lena Wertmuller for 1975’s “Seven Beauties.”
No woman has ever won the directing Oscar, and until Bigelow, no woman had evern won the Director’s Guild honor.
Lee Daniels, who made “Precious,” became only the second black filmmaker nominated for best director, after John Singleton for 1991’s “Boyz N the Hood.”
Also nominated for best director are Jason Reitman for “Up in the Air” and Quentin Tarantino for “Inglourious Basterds.” “Up in the Air” co-writer Reitman also had a nomination for adapted screenplay, while Tarantino also earned a nomination for original screenplay.

Za poređenje, krajem 60-ih samo četiri odsto žena od 16 do 60 godina zarađivalo je više od partnera. Sada je takvih žena 19 odsto, odnosno oko 2,7 miliona žena samo u Velikoj Britaniji.
Predviđa se da će se i dalje naglo povećavati broj žena ili devojaka koje zarađuju više. Naime, trenutno 25 odsto žena zarađuje jednako kao i njihov partner, što znači da ih lako mogu prestići u budućnosti.
Nisu poput svojih majki i baka
Istraživanje je obuhvatilo 25.000 domaćinstava, venčane i nevenčane parove, proučavajući njihova službena primanja u poslednje četiri decenije. Rezultati pokazuju dramatičnu promenu za žene danas, jer većina njih imala je majke i bake koje nisu gradile karijeru nego su se posvetile vaspitavanju dece.
Zbog impresivne moći zarađivanja novca nekih žena, raste broj muškaraca koji odustaju od karijere da bi bili samo očevi. Žene koje puno zarađuju shvataju da nema razloga da
odustanu od svog posla i da žive od muževljeve plate koja možda ne može da pokrije ni kredite.Prema službenim podacima, broj muškaraca koji ne radi nego se brine o deci porastao je za 80 odsto u proteklih 15 godina. U 1994. bilo je 120.000 muškaraca koji su izjavili da su preuzeli brigu o svojoj porodici i domu. Danas je ta brojka 214.000. Za poređenje, broj žena koje su domaćice u istom razdoblju pao je sa 2,7 miliona na dva miliona. Stručnjaci kažu da se urušava ideja o muškarcu kao hranitelju porodice. Od 70-ih muškarci su postali otvoreniji za ideju da se brinu o deci, a zanemare karijeru.
Uprkos ovim podacima, brojke takođe pokazuju da žene u proseku još zarađuju 25 odsto manje od muškaraca.
Zamena uloga
Direktorka (35) jedne firme za odnose s javnošću vratiće se na posao posle porodiljskog, a brigu o njihovim 14-mesečnim blizancima preuzeće 36-godišnji suprug, grafički dizajner, koji zarađuje manje od nje. Ova žena smatra da je zamena uloga teška, jer je društvo i dalje ne prihvata.
- Ipak nadam se da će situacija u mojoj porodici naučiti moje sinove jednakosti polova. Ako se žena u vezi oseća prirodno i dobro kao ona koja zarađuje hleb, onda bi tako trebalo i da postupa - smatra majka blizanaca.
Za najgori film u protekloj godini nominovani su “Transformersi”, “Sve o Stivu”, “Zemlja izugbljenih”, “G.I. Joe”, “Matori džukci“…
Ove godine, kritičari će proglasiti i najgora ostvarenja u deceniji. Filmovi u ovoj konkurenciji su “Battlefield Earth”, “Freddy got fingered”, “Gigli”, “I know who killed me” i “Swept away”.
Zanimljivo je da se nominacije za nagrade za najlošija ostvarenja Zlatna malina obično objave dan pre nominacija Oskara. Tako je bilo i ovog puta, a koliko danas saznaćemo ko će se naći u trci za nagradu Oskar i ko će tako osvojiti priznanja za najbolja ostvarenja u sedmoj umetnosti u protekloj godini.
Simpatični kuriozitet ovog puta je to da se prvi put jedna glumica našla kao nominovana za Zlatnu malinu, a predviđa joj se i nominacija za Oskara. To je Sandra Bulok koja je svoju navodno najgoru rolu odigrala u “Sve o Stivu”, dok joj se, kako pričaju, smeši nominacija za Oskara zbog glavne uloge u filmu “The Blind Side”.
