Novak Djokovic has celebrated his first major title triumph by thanking his close-knit family for giving him support both on and off the tennis court."I would like to thank reverybody in my box, not for just these two weeks but through my whole life," said the world No.3.
Djokovic also explained he was thrilled to win his first Grand Slam title in Melbourne following his four-set defeat of unseeded Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
"I'm very very happy that I won my first Grand Slam here and so hopefully I'll see you here in this stage more often in the future," he said at the trophy presentation.
Djokovic pointed out that he was aware he was not the favoured player to win the final, but jokingly forgave the crowd for barracking hard for Tsonga.
"I still love you guys, don't worry," he laughed.
The No.3 seed also paid thanks to the army of Serbian supporters who had cheered him on throughout the fortnight and watched him become the first Grand Slam champion from his country.
"I'm so proud of course with myself in the first place but then to be the first Serbian who won the Grand Slam title, I think it's a crazy house back in Serbia and thankyou (to) my country.
"I love you guys if you're watching."

Najbolji srpski teniser Novak Đoković plasirao se u finale Otvorenog prvenstva Australije Đoković je u polufinalu pobedio prvog tenisera sveta, Švajcarca Rodžera Federera, u tri seta – 7:5, 6:3, 7:6 (7:5). Federer je napravio prvi brejk u meču u sedmom gemu prvog seta, ali je Đoković osvojio devet od sledećih deset gemova i prelomio meč.U trećem setu spasao je dve set-lopte protivnika i napravio preokret u taj-brejku za veliki uspeh. U drugom uzastopnom gren slem finalu Novakov rival biće Francuz Žo Vilfred Conga, 38. igrač sveta, najveće iznenađenje turnira. Finalni meč igra se u nedelju.

Ana Ivanović plasirala se prvi put u karijeri u finale Otvorenog prvenstva Australije! U polufinalu najbolja srpska teniserka je pobedila Slovakinju Danijelu Hantuhovu u tri seta – 0:6, 6:3, 6:4. U finalu ona će sastati sa Ruskinjom Marijom Šarapovom, koja je u dva seta pobedila Jelenu Janković.

Ledger was found dead in his fourth floor apartment at 421 Broome Street in the SoHo neighborhood of New York City on January 22, 2008. Ledger's body was found at 3:26 p.m. ESTby a housekeeper and a massage therapist, who entered the bedroom to find him face down, naked, and unconscious at the foot of his bed with sleeping pills on a nearby night table. Police said that they also found prescription medication in the bathroom and that there were "no obvious signs" of suicide, nor did they suspect foul play.

Nakon što su holivudski glumci George Clooney i Sharon Stone ustali protiv nezavisnosti Kosova najavljujući prosvjede podrške Srbiji, u njihovim namjerama pridružili su im se i kolege Richard Gere te Sir Sean Connery, najpoznatiji James Bond."Ako Kosovo ne obrane srbijanski državnici ili Rusija, to bi moglo poći za rukom slavnom Hollywoodu. U obranu južne srpske pokrajine, najvjerojatnije već idućeg mjeseca, stat će najpoznatija imena svjetskog glumišta: Sharon Stone, George Clooney, Richard Gere i Sean Connery", pišu frankfurtske "Vijesti", a prenosi "Tanjug".
Saznaje se da su poznate zvijezde organiziranje prvih prosvjeda najavile već ze početak veljače, nakon što u Srbiji završe predsjednički izbori.
Gere se u akciju namjerava uključiti zato što je vrlo sumnjičav prema velikim svjetskim silama jer Kosovu tako odlučno žele podariti nezavisnost. Zbog toga smatra da u "tom Kosovu" sigurno "ima nečega" zbog čega je tako zanimljivo svjetskim moćnicima. Srbi mu valjda neće zamjeriti što je u filmu "Lov u Bosni" lovio Radovana Karadžića.
Connery je problem Kosova odmah povezao sa svojom rodnom Škotskom:
"Škotska je u svojoj povijesti imala puno više prava biti nezavisna, ali joj to nisu dopustili. U čemu je to razlika između moje domovine i Kosova da se sada čini takav presedan", pita se Sean.

Famous Hollywood actor, activist and campaigner George Clooney in a statement to the Frankfurt daily News announced he intends to organize a protest with his colleagues against the unilateral declaration of independence of Serbian province of Kosovo and Metohija.
“With my coworker and friend Sharon Stone and her childhood friends of Serbian ancestry, I’ll soon organize a protest against the attempts to grant independence to Kosovo,” the popular American actor said.…“I strive to use my popularity to help the mankind, to contribute to solving the number of problems afflicting today’s world,” he said.
This is a surprising breath of fresh air, to be sure, and I’ll take it; fame helps. But as I’ve been saying to all the welcome naysayers coming out of the woodwork only now: Thanks for waiting ’til the 11th hour, when we’ve had 9 years to make this not happen.

Though I should remind George that he’ll only anger the Muslims by doing the right thing — something he faults America for rather frequently. In Kosovo, he has swapped places with his nemesis on this, the other George. George Bush — whom Clooney credits with creating “thousands more bin Ladens” every time we fight back. Well Clooney will be “creating” a few thousand of them in Greater Albania by fighting back. That’s just how it works.

According to the AP, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon designated George Clooney as a U.N. “messenger of peace” Friday, January 18, 2008. He will become the ninth U.N. peace envoy.
While many U.N. agencies have goodwill ambassadors to promote activities ranging from helping children and refugees to promoting human rights, “messengers of peace” are selected by the secretary-general to promote the broader work of the United Nations.
U.N. spokeswoman Michele Montas said Clooney was recognized “for focusing public attention on crucial international political and social issues.”
As a messenger of peace, he will have “a special focus on United Nations peacekeeping,” Montas said.
The revelation: Clooney is taking a stand against Kosovo independence at the same time that he has been hand-picked to represent the UN on “crucial international political issues.” This makes Ban Ki-moon’s unstated position on Kosovo abundantly clear — and he reveals it in a backhanded way, through the actions of George Clooney.
Clearly, while NGOs and Western governments have been trying to ram independence through, the UN entities at work in Kosovo have been sending distress signals to headquarters, and flashing a red light.

Koreni ove manifestacije sežu nekoliko vekova u prošlost. Za stanovnike Venecije, nošenje maski bilo je mnogo više od obične zabave; to je duga tradicija nastala u naprednoj Mletačkoj republici, poznatoj po zagarantovanim ličnim slobodama i pravima građana, ali i po strogim moralnim i zakonskim ograničenjima i zabranama.Stavljanje maske značilo je - pod određenim uslovima - proširenje tih sloboda preko propisanih granica. U prvo vreme, pod maskama se, ne samo tokom karnevala, moglo podsmevati moćnicima, rizikovati u poslu i ljubavi, kockati se i uživati u sitnim porocima... Jutros je kolega, koji btw, menja ovih dana kafe kuvaricu, usao u moju kancelariju sa recenicom: Zivela Uzicka Republika! Onda je moj kolega, sa sveze izvucenim pramenovima, dodao da doticni ima `te tikove` `kad ne popije lek`… I sve to uz Prodigy I prvu jutarnju kafu. Onu najmiliju.Tako poce jos jedan srpski dan i to punim plucima… A na tv-u telepres i vesti…Udavise nas ovih dana promo politickim materijalom. Svi se nude, servilni i ponizni ko nikad. Na posterima osmesi I neki dobar Loreal foundation sa puno korektora, cenim neki profi max factor, a oni koji imaju malo vise za kampanju koriste I vishi. Pa onda: latest version photo shop. Does the thing.
Neko ce pobediti, dal sa socnom Sekom ili razvratnim Ackom na trgu ili plastificiranom Ceckom u Skandalu, al` ce pobediti. I opet ce novi dan osvanuti i oni ce nas zaboraviti mozda i vise nego pre…Sto agresivnija kampanja, brze zaboravljaju. Ali nema veze, mi cemo da glasamo I to na dan slave. Pogode ga uvek. Znaju da smo u porodicnim atmosferama sa svojim ili njihovima I bas je idealna prilika da nam sve lepo upropaste i da se svi zakacimo, vec kod ordevera, kome sad dati vlast (nedostaje mi cika Nusic, ali mnogo) I da zaboravimo sto smo danima birkali njegusku I dimljeni kackavalj, pa jurili jadno presence i brinuli da bude bas onako reshhh i da ima uvijeno repce.
No, ja pustih Orthodox I prepustih se cupkanju u cizmicama ispod stola…Udri brigu na Kelte. Tako je I najbolje.

On January 7, 2008 it was announced that, due to the 2007–08 Writers Guild of America strike, the 65th Annual Golden Globe Awards would not be telecast live. The ceremony was faced with a threat by actors to boycott the ceremony rather than cross picket lines and by striking writers threatening to picket the event. Urbana Srpkinja je utopljena u, ali bas u iste, probleme koje imaju pomalo vec izvikane junakinje takozvanih `zenskih` filmova i serija western produkcije kraja 20 veka. I tako je, iako je standard užasno različit, bliska, svim svojim prijateljicama sa plazme iz `spoljasnjeg` sveta. Na primer, problem pridobijanja-dobijanja i zadrzavanja muskarca je konkretan i nazalost stalan. Borba za 5 minuita NJEGOVOG vremena (cini mi se da alternativa i ne postoji) je takodje stalna borba u kojoj zenska strana dobija samo koliko joj ne treba - suvise malo i ponekad. Optuzuju i net i alijenaciju, i nas same kako nas nije vise briga za druge, jer ne vidimo vise nista od nas samih, ali ipak... Za nesto sto se zove bliskost gen je potpuno izgubljen. Jos davno. Ostao na pocetku poslednje decenije proslog veka. I kod nas i kod njih. Dalje, nasa Srpkinja je na večitoj razmedji istoka i zapada – i socna talasasta domaćica sa tursko-madjarskim specijalitetom u rerni i menadzer-profesionalac-ka. Ume da bude bezobrazno otmena kada celu svoju platu da na parfem koji je videla u Vogue-u dok je listala na jednom od prodajnih mesta jer Vogue i dalje dosta košta za srpske standarde. Njena sudbina je često oskrnavljena urodjenim i naslednim kompleksom pripadnika istočne Evrope i sramotom dok čeka u redu za vizu. Tada ona prestaje da bude Evropljanka i postaje ponosna Srpkinja koja je navikla i na bombe i na redove, ali i na baletske premijere okruzena beogradskim `la creme` društvom.
Eto tako, ima jos dosta toga da sami sebi dokazemo i ubedimo tamo nekog koga treba ubediti da smo ne Evropa vec i daleka obecana zemlja bar po nacinu razmisljanja, aktivnostima, nama samima...Kako samo ne vide da smo isti. I da to postaje pomalo i tuzno. Nemamo vise vreme, pa cak ni za sebe, a zelimo da imamo puno toga sto je apsolutno trivijalno i materijalno bespotrebno. Lepo rece Ed Norton izmedju dva udarca u F. Avangardna, drugačija, smela, Koko je još dvadesetih godina prošlog veka protežirala novi stil, koji je bio u potpunoj suprotnosti s dotadašnjim modnim standardima. Elegantni, ali neuobičajeno smeli modeli, kao i kombinacija elemenata muške i ženske mode, stvarali su potpuno novi pravac koji je ženama pružao osećaj udobnosti i zadovoljstva, oslobađajući ih dotadašnjih stega.Njeno pravo ime je zapravo Gabrijel Šasnel. Rođena je 19. avgusta 1883. u Saumuru, malom francuskom gradu. Bila je vanbračno dete uličnog prodavca i domaćice, koji su pored nje imali još petoro dece. S obzirom na to da su vanbračne zajednice bile apsolutna retkost, njena majka se potrudila da okolini prećuti istinu, kako bi izbegla moguće neprijatnosti. Tako je i Gabrijel krštena očevim prezimenom, odakle i počinje priča vezana za njeno, kasnije čuvenoprezime. Naime, greškom crkvenog službenika, koji je u krštenici upisao Šanel umesto Šasnel, nastalo je ime po kome će postati prepoznatljiva.Ipak, na putu do svetske slave, pred Gabrijelom je bilo još mnogo trnja. Njeno detinjstvo nije bilo srećno. Odrastala je u siromašnim uslovima, najčešće uskraćena za ljubav i pažnju koja joj je bila potrebna. Kada je napunila 12 godina, majka joj umire. Zbog nedostatka novca, ali i volje da se brine o potomstvu, njen otac odlučuje da napusti porodicu, a Gabrijel završava u sirotištu, gde provodi narednih pet godina. Taj period će zauvek pamtiti kao jedan od najdramatičnijih u svom životu. S navršenih 17 godina, odlučuje da napusti dom i koristeći zanat koji je tamo izučila, radi kao krojačica. Ipak, u potrazi za boljim životom i novcem, seli se u Pariz, gde otkriva čari noćnog života. Zaintrigirana pariskom scenom, nastupa u kabareima kao pevačica i igračica, gde dobija i svoje scensko ime - Koko! Počinje da kreira šešire, koji su u tom periodu bili nezaobilazni modni detalj svake dame. Zahvaljujući finansijskoj pomoći vojnog oficira i bogatog naslednika Etjena Balzana, čija je ljubavnica bila, Koko 1909. otvara svoj prvi butik, čime njen san počinje da se ostvaruje.Prodaja je krenula odlično, što je samo dodatno pokrenulo njenu ambiciju da proširi svoju delatnost kreirajući modu, koja će biti neobavezna, udobna i nadasve šik. Žene su još uvek bile stegnute korsetima i zastarelim modnim pravilima, a Koko je to želela da promeni. Oslobađajući njihovo telo, svojim kreacijama je oslobađala i njih same, protežirajući tako ličnu osobenost i emancipaciju. Njena odeća se u početku teško probijala, ali uz pomoć novog muškarca, jedne od njenih najvećih ljubavi, industrijalca Artura Kapela, koji je verovao u njene vizije, Koko otvara nove butike u Dovilu i Bijaricu. Vremenom, butici, kao i odeća sa etiketom Šanel, postaju prava senzacija!Koristeći svoju kreativnost, ali i originalan pristup modi, Koko je volela da eksperimentiše sa stilovima, predstavljajući sebe kao hrabrog inovatora. Promovisala je praktičan način odevanja.
JEDAN od prvih uspeha, Koko Šanel bili su komotni džemperi sa pojasom, kombinovani sa suknjom, koji nailaze na sveopšte odobravanje.
